Apple has just officially presented its new creation called iPad. It looks like an iPod touch of big size, thin, which allows the user to customize the background of the screen, known tool from the iPhone. According to Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO who realized the presentation, it offers “the best web experience that you can imagine”.

Jobs said that the iPad is on the halfway between a Laptop and an intelligent phone or “smartphone”, offering a better performance compared to both mentioned categories of devices in the most fundamental tasks, as surfing in Internet or sharing images. “We want to kick off 2010 by introducing a truly magical and revolutionary product.”, the executive director of Apple added.

Certainly the iPad seems to have the capacity to be revolutionary, offering an infinity of possibilities for new applications or redesigned ones, like in the case of iCal or the new application called iBooks. Considering the fact that approximately 140 thousand applications are listed in the AppStore for iPod and iPhone, it is more than probable that innovative applications for the iPad will allow to continue with the “Apple – Revolution”.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

These are some of the outstanding characteristics of the iPad:

Height: 9.56 inches (242.8 mm)
Width:7.47 inches (189.7 mm)
Depth:0.5 inch (13.4 mm)
Weight:1.5 pounds (.68 kg) Wi-Fi model; 1.6 pounds (.73 kg) Wi-Fi + 3G model

Its multi – touch display with IPS technology is 9,7 inches. The processor (1GHz) is called “A4”, a new creation specifically designed for the iPad. Two models of the iPad will be launched – Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi 3G - with capacity of 16, 32 and 64 GB flash drive. According to Jobs, the battery has an autonomy of 10 hours.

PRICES

At the moment the prices only are published for the United States in www.apple.com, which range between 499$ and the 829$ according to the model. Compared with the Netbooks the iPad is more expensive, but from the first impression, concerning design and performance it justifies the difference.
